In April 2001, both Robert Lynch and Arthur McKenzie decided to retire. Although the transition to the new owners was underway for quite some time, the retirement of two key members of the ownership group invariably left the organization less experienced. Both have left an indelible mark on Randall Plumbing and Heating Limited. Art’s technical knowledge, his attention to detail and his vast network of relationships within the construction industry accentuated the respect afforded to the new management within the industry. Bob’s reputation for fairness and honesty with suppliers, sub-trades and employees, his shrewd business sense and his humor set a high standard of conduct for those who followed. Both Bob and Art stressed the importance of a high-quality installation. They both were satisfied with nothing less.
Brad Marr and Marc Lynch joined Tom Sheldon to bring a younger perspective to the management team. Under this trio, Randall has made a firm commitment to re-developing and diversifying the service department. A further focus on developing a more extensive contractor-client relationship is now a priority. As well, a reorganization of the management team, a renovation of the shop and further computerization of the office has made for a busy four years of change.
The dynamic nature of the industry makes many of these changes inevitable. Many major projects have been successfully completed during the last four years. Among these are Cangene LSR, the Apotex Perm Hall Expansion, the Biovail Expansion, Hy’s Restaurant, Frontenac School and RJ Waugh School. Undoubtedly, Randall Plumbing & Heating Limited is entering the next century as a strong and important player in the mechanical contracting industry in Manitoba.
